The face is arranged in a distinctive geometric cluster, with four oval natural garnets surrounding a cross-shaped arrangement of tiny seed pearls. The garnets have the deep wine-red color so characteristic of Victorian jewelry, while the seed pearls create a soft contrast at the center of the design.
What really gives this ring its character is the goldwork. The shoulders are pierced and engraved with scrolling details that continue around the sides of the setting, giving the ring an intricate appearance from nearly every angle. Darkened areas within the recessed decoration emphasize the pattern and add to the wonderful antique character of the piece.
