Antique Victorian 10K Gold Slide Chain with 14K Seed Pearl Slider & Dog Clip

A beautiful Victorian slide chain featuring an exceptionally long rope chain, decorative gold slider, and original dog clip fitting. At approximately 48 inches long, the chain can be worn in the traditional long Victorian fashion or doubled for a shorter layered look.

The rope chain and dog clip test as 10K gold, while the decorative slider tests as 14K gold. The slider is beautifully detailed, with raised scrolling floral decoration sweeping across one side and a tiny approximately 1 mm seed pearl set within a starburst on the polished opposite side. Its combination of texture and smooth gold gives the small slider remarkable detail when viewed closely.

The movable slider travels along the doubled chain, allowing its position to be adjusted. Two strands extend below the slider and terminate in a traditional dog clip, originally intended for attaching a watch or other accessory and equally useful today for displaying a favorite antique charm, pendant, or fob.

The chain retains the warm patina and subtle variation expected from a piece of this age. The combination of the long rope chain, working slide, mixed-karat construction, and dog clip makes this a particularly versatile example of Victorian jewelry.
