A striking late Victorian ring with an unusually long, slender silhouette, this piece combines a vibrant natural tourmaline with a field of antique rose-cut diamonds set across an elongated 14K yellow gold face.
At the center is a natural round tourmaline weighing approximately 0.15 carat, surrounded by approximately 0.62 carat total weight of rose-cut diamonds. The diamonds vary subtly in shape and character, creating the wonderfully irregular sparkle associated with hand-cut antique stones. Rather than the uniform brilliance of modern diamonds, the rose cuts catch the light softly across the surface of the ring.
The elongated face measures an impressive 26.37 mm from end to end, giving the ring considerable presence on the hand despite its refined proportions. An open gallery beneath the stones allows light through the setting while revealing the intricate construction from the side. Additional rose-cut diamonds continue onto the shoulders, where engraved details lead into the slender yellow gold shank.
The warm gold, softly shimmering rose cuts, and richly colored center stone give this ring a distinctly antique character that is difficult to reproduce in modern jewelry.
