These colorful vintage earrings pair warm 14K yellow gold with vibrant synthetic opal inlay in a wonderfully graphic circa-1980s design.
Individual sections of synthetic opal are fitted across the front of each earring, creating a mosaic-like pattern filled with flashes of green, blue, violet, orange, and pink. The sections are separated and framed by yellow gold, giving the earrings an architectural quality while allowing the shifting colors of the opal to take center stage.
The gently curved form gives the earrings dimension on the ear and allows the opal to catch the light from different angles. Measuring just under 21 mm long, they have noticeable presence without feeling oversized. At 4.55 grams total, they also have a substantial feel for their scale.
